I think I'm being really blind today, but I can't find a genuine XP Home Edition bootable ISO image to download. I have product key etc, just need to recover it on a corrupt drive for a Dell Inspiron 6000. After downloading the correct .iso file use ImgBurn or Gear ISO to create a bootable DVD.

Oct 29, 2017  Where can I find an ISO for Windows XP Home edition I need to restore an older machine for which I do not have the ISO. Please note, if the friend has an OEM or Recovery Disc for XP Home, this will not work with a retail product key. Windows xp home iso 4 people were helped by this reply.

After you enter user name and password you will be asked to:
'Type your Windows product key', do not enter a key.
Also located just below the box where you would enter the key is a box with a check mark
to 'Automatically activate Windows when I am online', remove the check mark and click 'Next'.

You will now have a 30 day grace period in which to activate Windows.

After you are satisfied all problems have been resovled then activate Windows.

Go to your computer manufacture's support web site and check for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

Do a small group (10 updates maax at a time)of updates at a time,
reboot if prompted and install another small group of updates and so on,
saving any .NET Framework updates for last.
