I just downloaded Mac OS 10.13.3 on my MacBook Pro and found my old but very functional HP Deskjet 5550 to be inoperable. My prior OS was 10.9.5. HP Deskjet 5550 Mac 10.1 Driver. HP Deskjet 3755 Printer Driver; HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Printer Driver; HP LaserJet M125nw Printer Driver.

DeskJet 880C worked fine with PowerBook G4 and old driver. After spending one hour with apple support, they inform me that the new 3.3 driver from HP does not work correctly with my new MacBook Pro.
Have downloaded (no problem finding it on HPs website) and re-installed and still no joy.
Does anyone know of an alternative driver that will do the job?

This driver has been available on HP's website since the 1st week in May. My Deskjet 5850 will not auto turn on to print a job with this driver. Reverted back to version 2.3.1 which appears to work perfectly! HP definately needs to fix this!

I was having the same problem with my 990 not turning on. I just rolled back to 2.3.1 and have no problems printing when the printer is turned off now. I hope this is fixed soon!

I have a 5150 that it worked fine on using 2.4. Now with 2.5 I always get the 'printer is not on' error message. I followed the directions when I installed and deleted the old printer first, too.
Stick with 2.4 if it's working for you

The auto-on feature appears to be broken in 2.5. With older versions of the HP driver, I could wake and print to the Deskjet 5550 connected to an AirPort Extreme base station. Now I get a 'Printer is turned off' error and I must go and turn the printer on manually-what a pain! Please, HP-fix this ASAP.
